Text formatting

Text formatting and colour codes in Trackmania can be used for players' nicknames, track names, track comments, music file comments, server comments and in-game online chats.

Nicknames are limited to 20 characters in Original, Sunrise and Nations versions. In United, this limitation doesn't exist anymore.

You can also add special Unicode characters to your name (see here).

Colour Codes / Color Codes

To add a colour to your name simply put a $ followed by 3 numbers which represent red, green and blue. A small selection can be seen below.

The colour codes are the 3 numbers after the $ and have 16 values 0 to f (0123456789abcdef) The colours are made from red green & blue values ($RGB)

Other Text Formatting

Those codes are available in all TrackMania games:

$t Capitals
$i Italic
$s Shadowed
$w Wide spacing
$n Narrow spacing
$m Normal setting
$g Default color
$z Reset all
$$ Write a "$"

In TrackMania United, some new codes have been added:

$o Bold with semi-wide spacing
$h Internal link to a ManiaLink
$l External link to a website

Links' syntax is the same as in ManiaLinks.

In TrackMania Forever, another new code has been added:

$p Link with player parameters to a script that should return a ManiaLink
The parameters are: ?playerlogin=<login>&lang=<language>&nickname=<nickname>&path=<location> (see here for more info).
